IMPHAL, Dec 16: Security forces on Sunday recovered a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and other combat materials in Kangpokpi district of Manipur. The weapons were seized during a joint search operation carried out by the Manipur police and Assam Rifles, targeting the hideouts of armed miscreants.
The search operations, which focused on the hill ranges of L. Jangnomphai and Freedom Hill in Kangpokpi district, were part of ongoing efforts to dominate the area and prevent illegal activities.
During the operations, the forces recovered a variety of weapons and explosives, including a 7.62 mm Self-Loading Rifle, a 9mm pistol, a single barrel gun, a double barrel gun, a Pompi gun, four No. 36 hand grenades, four Stardyne 90 explosives, and four electric detonators. Additionally, five live 9mm rounds, three live 7.62mm rounds, a tube launching device, three detonators for No. 36 hand grenades, a Baofeng Motorola set, and four anti-riot shells were seized.
In a separate operation conducted in the jungle area of Khunkho Kuki village, the joint team also recovered a .22 rifle, a .303 rifle, 49 live rounds of ammunition, and a magazine.
The recovered items were handed over to the local police for further investigation.
