SENAPATI, Dec 18: The United Mao Conference (UMC) has strongly condemned the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) for its recent press release concerning Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s visit to Senapati to attend the cultural celebration of Robvena Ni. The UMC emphasized that the Kuki-Zo Council has no jurisdiction or authority to interfere in the cultural or administrative affairs of the Mao community.

In the press release issued on Wednesday, the UMC reaffirmed that Robvena Ni is a cultural celebration deeply rooted in Mao traditions, and any attempts to dictate or disrupt the free movement of individuals, including dignitaries, to our land will not be tolerated.

“We, the Mao people, are peace-loving and have always respected the rights and sentiments of other communities. However, continued interference in our affairs, especially from the Kuki-Zo Council, will lead to severe repercussions against those responsible for such provocations,” the UMC asserted. The UMC made it clear that while the Mao community does not seek conflict, it will firmly defend its traditions, rights, and territorial integrity if challenged.

The statement further advised the Kuki-Zo Council to focus on promoting peace and coexistence rather than meddling in the affairs of the Mao people. “Any attempts to incite tension in our land will be met with strong and resolute measures in the interest of maintaining harmony and order,” it stated.

The United Mao Conference calls upon all stakeholders to act with restraint and respect the boundaries of different communities to avoid unnecessary conflict.
