Thousands of people gathered today in Imphal for the “Manipur Kanba Khongchat” rally, organized by the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI). The rally commenced at 9:30 am from Thau Ground Thangmeiband and culminated at Khuman Lampak, where participants from various civil society organizations, student bodies, schools, colleges, universities, and individuals joined in solidarity.
Notable participants included MLAs Sapam Nishikanta Singh and Thangjam Arunkumar Singh, who marched alongside citizens advocating for immediate resolution and unity within Manipur. Play cards bearing messages such as “Maintain Manipur’s Boundaries” and “Implement NRC” underscored the rally’s demands for peace and integrity.
Upon reaching Khuman Lampak, a public meeting was convened where attendees unanimously resolved to uphold Manipur’s territorial integrity, implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC), and address security concerns related to Kuki militant activities. The meeting further emphasized the need for peaceful resolutions and urged against any actions that could destabilize the region.
The event highlighted a unified stance among Manipuri communities towards maintaining peace, security, and the state’s territorial integrity, marking a significant moment in the ongoing dialogue for stability and unity in Manipur.
