Security Alerts Lead to Emergency Landings for Akasa Air and Vistara Flights

Delhi: 3 June 2024

On Tuesday, an Akasa Air flight from Delhi to Mumbai, carrying 186 passengers, an infant, and six crew members, was diverted to Ahmedabad airport due to a security alert. Flight QP 1719, which took off on June 3, 2024, followed all safety protocols as the Captain executed emergency procedures, safely landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 10:13 am. All passengers were deplaned, and Akasa Air assured that they are adhering to all safety and security protocols on the ground.

Simultaneously, Vistara faced a security scare on its flight UK 024 from Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport to Mumbai. A handwritten note threatening a bomb was discovered on an airsickness bag, leading to a full emergency declaration at 10:08 am. The flight landed safely at 10:19 am. Vistara confirmed the incident, stating that “a security concern has been noted by our staff while onboard the flight operating from Paris to Mumbai on June 2, 2024.”
