The Naga People’s Organization (NPO) has concluded its election process for the 2024-2027 tenure with Kuba Peter emerging as the new President after a fiercely contested triangular race. The nominations, which ended last Friday, saw three prominent candidates vying for the prestigious position of President.
The election process was marked by a thorough scrutiny of all candidates. The three candidates for the President’s post were Adani David Mao (Mao), Akha Dani (Poumai), and Kuba Peter (Maram). Ultimately, Kuba Peter’s extensive experience and dedication to community service led to his victory. He has previously served in significant roles within the United Naga Council (UNC), All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM), Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA), and Maralui Karalimei Swijoikang (MKS) among other tribal and local leadership positions.
Kuba Peter’s election as the NPO President marks a new chapter for the organization, with expectations of progressive leadership and community-centric initiatives. His past contributions to various organizations are a testament to his capability and vision for the NPO’s future.
