GUJARAT, Oct 14: In a joint operation, the Delhi Police and Gujarat Police seized 518 kg of cocaine worth ₹5,000 crore from the Avkar Drugs Limited Company in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, according to reports. This marks the third major drug seizure in the last 11 days as part of the ongoing nationwide crackdown on narcotics.
The massive drug haul comes on the heels of another major seizure on October 10, where the Delhi Police Special Cell confiscated 200 kg of cocaine valued at ₹2,000 crore from a rented shop in West Delhi’s Ramesh Nagar. The drugs were hidden in plastic snack packets labeled “Tasty Treat” and “Chatpata Mixture,” with around 20-25 packets recovered from a small shop.
Just earlier, on October 2, the Delhi Police seized cocaine worth ₹5,620 crore and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana in a raid on a godown in South Delhi’s Mahipalpur. In connection with that operation, police arrested four individuals, including Tushar Goyal from Delhi and Bharat Kumar Jain from Mumbai, while two others were apprehended from Amritsar and Chennai. The ongoing investigation led to further arrests, including Akhlak from Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to seven.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently highlighted the seizures as part of the government’s “zero-tolerance policy” against drugs. He also raised concerns over arrested suspect Tushar Goyal’s alleged links to Congress, accusing the party of undermining efforts to combat the drug crisis.
