SENAPATI, Oct 30: The Liangmai community came together in vibrant celebration of the Chaga Ngee festival at Marenmai Village, an event marked by deep cultural pride and unity. Drawing over 4,000 attendees, this year’s festival showcased the rich heritage and traditions of the Liangmai people, emphasising the community’s enduring spirit of thanksgiving, reconciliation, and respect for heritage.
The event welcomed Shri Khasim Vashum as the Chief Guest, with Shri Z. Kikhonbou Niumai serving as the Guest of Honour. Chief hosts for the festival were Shri R. Machundoubou, President of LNC-M and Convenor of JTC, and Shri D. Gombui, Chairman of Liangmai Apaiky and Founder of Olivia Higher Secondary School, Kanglatongbi. Each expressed pride in the preservation and growth of Liangmai traditions through Chaga Ngee, underscoring the festival’s role in fostering unity and continuity within the community.
While Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Dr. Ranjan and J. Kumo Shah were scheduled to attend, they were unable to make it due to unavoidable circumstances, but sent their warm regards to the community.
Amid the festivities, the Chaga Ngee gathering stood as a legacy to the Liangmai’s commitment to cultural identity, drawing villagers and dignitaries alike in a powerful reminder of the values that bind their heritage and strengthen the community.
