SENAPATI, Nov 1: Manipur Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya inaugurated the Peace through Culture and Identity cum 2 Days Exhibition and Traditional Food Buffet at the Astro Turf Ground in Senapati on Friday.
The event, organized by the Manipur North Economic Development Association (MANEDA), highlighted Manipur’s cultural diversity with performances by specially-abled children and local women, aiming to foster unity and celebrate heritage.
In his speech, Governor Acharya expressed appreciation for the exhibition, commending MANEDA’s efforts to foster cultural awareness and unity. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting peace and stability by encouraging mutual respect and understanding among Manipur’s various communities. He noted the theme, “Peace Through Culture & Identity” captures Manipur’s identity as a diverse rich state and the state unique traditions and heritage are a source of pride, and such events help build an inclusive society where people of diverse backgrounds can coexist harmoniously.
He further described Manipur’s vibrant cultural landscape as being globally recognized for its historical significance and diversity. Despite the differences among communities, Governor Acharya noted that they share core values centered around peace, inclusion, and prosperity. He encouraged all to embrace a spirit of brotherhood, learn from one another, and work collectively toward a society grounded in compassion.
During his visit, Governor Acharya met with representatives from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Senapati, where he was warmly welcomed by Mamoni Doley upon his arrival at the district headquarters.
As part of his Diwali celebrations, the Governor also visited CRPF personnel stationed in Senapati, offering his Diwali greetings, distributing sweets, and joining the officers and jawans for a traditional Barakhana meal. He extended warm wishes for a joyful and fulfilling life, expressing appreciation for their dedication.
