CHURACHANDPUR, Nov 12:   Following a gunfight in Manipur’s Jiribam district on Monday that resulted in the deaths of ten suspected Kuki-Zo militants, the Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) on Tuesday issued a notice barring CRPF personnel from exiting their camps in Kuki-majority areas.

“No CRPF personnel shall be allowed to leave their camp premises. Any CRPF personnel found in violation of this notice shall do so at their own risk and responsibility. This directive will be in effect immediately upon the issuance of this notice and will remain enforced until the CRPF publicly acknowledges and apologizes for their barbaric actions in Jiribam,” the notice by KSO read.

“In light of this statement, we urge all districts and blocks of the Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) to align with the sentiments of the public and ensure immediate enforcement of this notice,” the notice further read.

The KSO considers this restriction part of a larger movement of “Non-Cooperation against the CRPF” within the Kuki dominated area and will reportedly remain in effect until the CRPF issues a public apology for what the KSO referred to as “inhumane actions” in Jiribam.
