SENAPATI, Nov 13: The Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) expressed deep shock and anguish over the tragic incident on November 11, 2024, at Yaingangpokpi, where an innocent Tangkhul Naga youth, Kanshok Horam of New Canaan Village, was shot by members of a warring community. The SDSA condemned the attack, describing it as a heinous act of violence and a severe violation of human rights.
In a statement, the SDSA stressed that the targeting of civilians in peaceful settings, particularly agricultural fields, is entirely unacceptable. “Such actions only serve to deepen divisions and perpetuate cycles of violence, leaving communities shattered and families devastated,” it said.
The SDSA called for an immediate halt to hostilities, particularly in Naga-inhabited areas, and urged all parties to engage in dialogue to resolve their differences peacefully. The association further demanded that those responsible for this atrocities be held accountable for their actions and that justice be delivered for the victim and his family.
“We stand in solidarity with the affected communities and urge the Government of Manipur to take decisive action to prevent further violence and to protect the rights and lives of innocent civilians,” the SDSA statement concluded.
When are we going to stop this condemnation and actually say ok enough is enough and bite them back?
